Stanford Undergraduate Sustainability Scholars (SUSS) is dedicated to exploring effective ways of communicating issues pertaining to sustainability and the Stanford campus.
SUSS funds two undergraduates per academic year to carry out research projects that investigate sustainability and the Stanford campus and make those findings public. We have a blog – SUSSing Sustainability @ Stanford – that is a forum for sustainability-related ideas, projects, and debates. We also maintain a calendar of sustainability events, courses, and opportunities.
SUSS is supported by the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) and the Program in Writing and Rhetoric (PWR).
Our work is driven by our conviction that pressing contemporary environmental challenges will be solved only through persuasive and creative communication (written, spoken, digital, and visual). In other words, rhetoric has a vital role in imagining a more sustainable future and in persuading others to work towards that future.
